Job Summary

The Clinical Pharmacology Group Leader leads a group of clinical pharmacologists and provides clinical pharmacology leadership on model-based drug development teams by delivering guidance and strategy to sponsor partners and team members on quantitative clinical pharmacology. This position is responsible for the professional development of group members and performs/provides support to other scientific staff in clinical pharmacology. In this role, you will participate in all company scientific endeavors and consult with clients on project work.


  • Scientific advisor for a group of clinical pharmacologists. Providing project scientific and strategic leadership.

  • Support group members’ scientific development.

  • Participates in business development efforts.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clinical pharmacology clients.

  • Create quantitative clinical pharmacology development plans for sponsors. Provide consulting and guidance on clinical pharmacology-related questions in all phases of drug development.

  • Develop quantitative strategies to support sponsor decision-making, in collaboration with internal modeling/simulation scientists.

  • Represent sponsors in regulatory interactions. 

  • Prepare and contribute to regulatory documents (e.g. IND, NDA, BLA, PIP, etc.).

  • Interpret and review the non-compartmental analysis of PK.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external dissemination.

  • Perform all aspects of clinical pharmacology to support drug development and clinical trials.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external dissemination.

  • Participate in MetrumRG training courses as a teacher or aid.

  • Present and publish scientific findings.

  • Provide supervision and mentoring to scientific staff.

  • Serve a leadership role in advancing the goals of the company.

  • Project scoping and proposal preparation.

Requirements, Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics concepts, and sufficient proficiency to provide review and critique in these areas

  • Ability to sit on drug development teams as a clinical pharmacologist

  • Perform programming and use statistical tools such as SPLUS, R, or SAS.

  • Ability to work with others to complete team level tasks.

  • Fluent in the use of Internet technologies and web-based software.

Education and Experience

Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline (pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacokinetics, mathematics, statistics, biomedical engineering, or a related field) or Master's degree with relevant experience, or equivalent.

Experience:  10+  years of direct postgraduate experience. Demonstrated technical abilities and desire to advance the science and assume a leadership position within the company and scientific community.
